Whole Body Cryotherapy Treats + Prevents Alzheimers

What it is: Alzheimer’s disease is a neurological disorder in which the death of brain cells causes memory loss and cognitive decline. A neurodegenerative type of dementia, the disease starts mild and gets progressively worse.

In Alzheimer’s, there are microscopic ‘plaques’ and ‘tangles’ between and within brain cells. Plaques form from the build-up of a protein called beta-amyloid; tangles form from an abnormal disintegration of the protein tau. Age, genetics and/or inflammation may cause the protein build-up and abnormalities. As neurons age, they are less able to transport and dispose of proteins causing the build-up. Inflammation increases the production of amyloid-beta and stresses neurons—which limits their ability to clear out abnormal proteins.

Studies suggest that chronic inflammation hastens the disease process or may even trigger it. Several epidemiological studies have found that older people who use anti-inflammatory drugs regularly appear to have significantly lower incidences of Alzheimer’s.

Causes:

  1. Age: as neurons age they lose their ability to transport and properly dispose of proteins (beta-amyloids and taus).
  2. Family history
  3. Having specific genes (the apolipoprotein E or APOE gene)
  4. Factors that increase blood vessel risk – including diabetes, high cholesterol and high blood pressure.
  5. Prior head injury
  6. Sleep disorders
  7. Chronic Inflammation
  8. Systemic Infection
  9. Environmental exposures

Symptoms:

  1. Worsened ability to take in and remember new information: Repetitive questions or conversations, misplacing personal belongings, forgetting events or appointments, getting lost on a familiar route.
  2. Impairments to reasoning, complex tasking, exercising poor judgment.
  3. Impaired visuospatial abilities: Inability to recognize faces or common objects, inability to operate simple implements
  4. Impaired speaking, reading and writing
  5. Changes in personality and behavior
  6. A gradual onset “over months to years” rather than hours or days

How Chill Cryotherapy can help treat and prevent the onset of Alzheimers Disease:

Our treatment plans are customized to our clients–based on their individual objectives, health conditions and genetic pre-dispositions.

Chill Cryotherapy offers a treatment protocol for clients looking to minimize their risk for developing Alzheimers–either due to family history, presence of the Alzheimer’s gene (the apolipoprotein E or APOE gene) or other risk factors such as chronic viral infection, head injury or vascular disease.

Chill Cryotherapy offers a different treatment plan for those clients presenting with mild dementia or Alzheimer’s Disease. The difference between these two protocols involves the frequency, intensity and duration of cryotherapy treatment.

Our treatment plans are based on the causes and mitigators of Alzheimer’s Disease. We are the only cryotherapy center in New Jersey and beyond that offers a medically formulated approach to cryotherapy treatment for dementia and Alzheimers. Our treatment plan is based on the science of Alzheimer’s Disease and how cryotherapy can reduce the causes and lower the risk for developing the disease:

  1. Chronic inflammation is implicated as a major cause of protein build-up in the brain. Anti-inflammatory cytokines are released during WBC and cross the blood-brain barrier—reducing chronic inflammation in the brain. Additionally, pro-inflammatory cytokines are reduced.
  2. Whole body cryotherapy creates a biological, brief, episodic stressor that causes the body, including the brain, to upregulate it’s functions. Thus WBC can reduce or reverse mental and physical aging. This has major implications for the build-up of beta-amyloid and tau proteins as the transport and disposal of them can be more normally maintained.
  3. WBC improves vascular health and performance through the vasoconstriction/vasodilation sequence. Improved vascular health reduces the risk for Alzheimer’s.
  4. WBC lowers the inflammation related to head injuries/concussions reducing the likelihood of chronic inflammation and subsequent protein build-up.
  5. WBC improves sleep patterns.
